Roadtrip 2016 Fall: Vancouver - Yakima - Bend - John Day River - Port Orford - Florence - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 44 - Our Secret Dune Beach

Good morning Heceta Beach.

A few folks from the next door resort enjoy a very fine morning on the beach.

The run-in to secret beach requires much sniffing.

Lakes and rivers provide obstacles to interlopers.

The most amazing dual coloured fern thingies are a discovery along the path.

The way to secret beach also has it's own secret twists to discover.

And over that last dune... the beach!

The skies are intense - but we are getting a far better day than the forecast had on tap.

The dunes march right down to the sea. Today, we have the whole place to ourselves.

Storm cells are all around us, but somehow stay away. This place is special.

They really are getting good at this game.

The gulls are our only company on the beach. The horses preceded us - but have already gone back to the barn.

The crazy Sand Gods are having a bit of fun once again. They go abstract every now and then.

A view back towards the parking lot from a dune top.

Emma always needs to make sure the flock is staying together.

Check - flock is all present.

The second half of this commando crossing is clearly perilous.

A farewell face to face in the parking lot with Norman Newt.
